One Week Left!

I am officially one week away from meeting our baby! Pretty exciting. I am 38 weeks and 3 days pregnant, and I have my final OB appointment today with Dr Dohm-Palmer, the OB/Gyn who is going to be doing my c-section since Dr Ditmanson is in England. I am getting ready to be done I think. It's getting a bit more uncomfortable to sleep at night. I do have some occasional contractions, but nothing regular. I am still hoping that I don't go into labor before the 4th. Hopefully that will still work out.

We have had some beautiful early fall days here in Minnesota lately, and Connor and I took advantage of that yesterday by going to the apple orchard. We got quite a few apples. I'm still not sure what I'm going to do with them all. I guess I will get proficient at making homemade applesauce or something like that!

Our basement is pretty much done now. There are a few things that still need to be delivered or fixed, but by and large we are mostly done with people coming in and out of our house! We got the fridge and the microwave delivered the other day, and the ice maker was just delivered today, but still needs the plumber to hook it up. Connor is very excited that he can make popcorn himself now since the microwave is just at his height. My mom came over twice this week and has really been a big help with getting things cleaned and ready to go. Jeff also got the crib set up over the weekend, and my mom and I were able to finish putting the sheets on it. I finally feel like I'm getting ready for baby to come! Oh, and my bag is packed too!

Here are some photos of the apple orchard and my blossoming belly!

2 weeks to go!

2 Weeks to go from yesterday and we get to meet our baby! I still don't have any strong feeling as to what it is, but my patient's mother said "You're having a boy right?". I also had a dream last week that the doctor who is doing my surgery did an ultrasound and called me later to say I was having a girl. I don't know what to think! I am anxious to find out and to be done with being pregnant, but I also have strong recollections that babies are much easier to take care of on the inside!! I really can't complain. I have had a wonderful pregnancy and am feeling well still. I am sleeping ok for the most part too, and just need to get up maybe once at night to go to the bathroom. My hips are a little sore today though because my mom and I worked hard yesterday getting the guest room/computer room dismantled and started getting it a little closer to being the baby's room.

Our basement is nearly done, and I think Jeff and I are really ready to be done with people coming in and out and just having the mess in general. We are ready to make it our own. Today they got the granite countertops in and also the bathroom fixtures. The appliances were supposed to be here today, but apparently are on a truck from Chicago and should be here by Monday and be hooked up by Tues. I also ordered a sectional and a cocktail table which may not be here until mid-November. I'm trying to talk Jeff into moving our old couch back down there in the meantime, but I think he'd rather throw it in a junk heap! It would be nice to have someplace to sit though, so we'll see.

I have my 20th High School reunion tomorrow night, so I will have to post some photos of it later. Should be fun.

Here are some updated photos of the basement and a lovely shot of me after working a 12 hour shift! (Only 4 1/2 shifts left! Yipee!)

36 weeks pregnant & 3 weeks to go!

I am 36 weeks and 3 days pregnant today, and I have exactly 3 weeks to go until my c-section. I had an OB appt today and everything looks good. I am measuring right on, the heart beat was 130, and weight gain is on target. If I gain 5 more pounds in the next 3 weeks, I will have gained the same amount as with Connor. I'm sure that's entirely possible, and maybe even a couple more! Still, it's been in a reasonable range, so I'm ok with that.

Connor insisted on putting his construction hat under his shirt and taking a photo with me!

Our basement is coming along too. I have some new photos to post. They installed a lot of the recessed lighting today, and the painting and staining are all done. Tomorrow our light fixtures will be installed. Next week they are going to put the door handles on and put the carpet down. They were supposed to be done by Wednesday, but the countertops are a bit delayed and won't be installed until Friday. The plumber then has to put in the sink, and he is going to install the bathroom fixtures as well. I'm hoping that will happen on Friday too. At any rate we should be able to start moving stuff into the guest room once the carpet is in!

Connor's 1st day of preschool 2007

Connor had his first day of preschool this year. He was very excited to start and was glad to have Ms Katie be his teacher again this year. Today was just a short orientation day with parents, and he will have his first drop-off day on Friday. He is looking forward to being able to play a little longer.

Here are some photos of his first day:

Labor Day (the holiday, not the real thing!)

Happy Labor Day! I'm also 35 weeks pregnant today and will have completed 8 mos of pregnancy. I have 4 weeks and 3 days left until my c-section! It's also our nephew Daniel's 8th birthday today, and will be Connor's 1/2 birthday tomorrow! Happy Birthday Daniel, and happy 4 1/2 to Connor! Jeff is BBQing ribs and beans today and we are going to hang out with our neighbors Robbie & Linda for dinner. I worked 3 12 hour shifts all weekend, so I'm pretty pooped today. I also had some excitement and had to transfer a patient up to ICU on Saturday. I don't really need the adrenaline that often, but I manage to get some now and then. I guess that's why I don't participate in extreme sports!

Also, our basement is coming along. They got started with the doors and trim on Friday, so all the doors are installed, but not stained yet, and they will be doing wood trim this week as well as staining everything.

Connor finished swimming lessons last week too. I think we are going to take a break over fall and part of winter and start them up again in the spring. He made great strides in the past year and is doing really well. Now our next adventure in sports is hockey! He starts in November, every Saturday and Sunday (I think this will mostly be a Daddy and Connor venture with Mommy and baby showing up occasionally for support!) They don't really play games, but just learn. He only has to be able to stand on skates, and he can do that plus shuffle around a bit. He's excited to start.
