5 Weeks left

Five Weeks from tomorrow we will be meeting our new baby! Hard to believe. It's exciting and a little scary at the same time, since I will be having a scheduled c-section. It will be really strange to show up at the hospital and have my baby within a couple of hours! That is if I don't end up going into labor before that, which could always happen. I'm not very prepared for that, but I suppose I should pack a bag one of these days just in case.

The basement is coming along great. They got the bar cabinets and entertainment center installed on Monday, and they are putting the tile down today.

T Minus 6 weeks

So, I finally have a date for my c-section! Baby Ingham is coming 6 weeks from today, on October 4th at 11:30am (that is if I don't get bumped by an emergency!). It's good to have a set time to count down to! I'm really getting excited to find out who has been kicking me all along. I think I really started getting excited when my co-worker Tia had her baby almost 2 weeks ago. She did not know if she was having a boy or a girl, but her husband and mom did! I don't know how she could stand having them know, but she did. At any rate, it was really cool to be there with her at the moment of birth and have her find out she had a boy (she has an almost 2yr old girl at home). We all had tears in our eyes, and it made it seem like it was getting really close for me. I have a feeling it might be a boy, but I'm not really sure. The heart rate is low like the wives tale says, but I could be tricked. I had a dream early on that I saw a weiner on ultrasound, and the other night I had a dream I was breastfeeding a baby boy with a fair amount of darkish hair. The only thing I have to go on is Connor, but he didn't have any hair for a long time. Who knows. It definitely makes the anticipation greater not knowing.

Our other big production (besides baby) is finishing our basement. We will lose our guest room/computer room when the baby arrives, and with Jeff's family and my sister being out of town, we do use our guest room fairly often. We figured it was time to get it done. I wish it was free, but that's the way it goes! They have been right on schedule so far, and are aiming for a Sept 19th finish date. That will give us just enough time to move the mountain of junk in our guest room and garage back into the basement, get the crib set up and make some semblance of a nursery. It's funny thought, I had to have everything perfect in the nursery before Connor was born, and with this one I just feel like "They can live in a box if they need to for a bit, they'll be fine". I'm sure we will have stuff somewhat organized, but the furniture is going to be completely mismatched, and I don't really care. I don't really want to paint and buy new furniture, because: a) I don't know if I'm having a boy or a girl and b) I would like to wait to decorate until they are big enough to buy a big kid bed and bedding, and then they can choose what color they want etc. I'm ok with living in decorating limbo for a bit. Jeff would say that's what I'm best at! I'm not very good at making decorating decisions. I kind of need a kick in the butt. Making the choices for the basement has been fun but also a bit of a challenge for me, especially when he says, "you can pick whatever you want". Arrgghh! I hate that! Hopefully it will all turn out well. The rooms are now framed, sheetrocked, taped and primed. We are going to have a family room with a bar, an exercise room/office, a 3/4 bath and a guest room, plus a few storage spaces. I'm excited to see it all finished. It's also been a really good distraction during the pregnancy, and has made things go by more quickly. I will post some before and after photos. Here are a few from before:

That's all for now! More updates later.

Hopping on the Blogwagon

Well, I figure it's about time I hopped on the Blogwagon, since most of my bulletin board friends from BabyCenter have one, and all of the girls at work have one too!
First, I guess I will share how I got to this point in my life. I have been married to Jeff for 8 years now. We had Connor 4 1/2 years ago after a 1 year struggle with infertility which required us to use Clomid to bring him into our family. When Connor was a little over 1, we decided we were ready to add to our family, and began a 2 1/2 year journey of secondary infertility. In January of this year, we did our second cycle of IVF with a new reproductive endocrinologist, and were lucky enough to get pregnant the first cycle! Here are the 2 embryos we transferred on Jan 18th:

On January 28th, we got the good news:

And, at 7 weeks pregnant, we found out that one of the two embryos made themselves at home:

We were thrilled to see a tiny fluttering heart, and to realize that we were finally going to be blessed with another baby! I think I was still nervous about the pregnancy continuing, and about making it through all of the critical points. We have been so fortunate that everything has gone well, and now I am just 6 1/2 weeks away from meeting our little one! Here are a few more shots of pregnancy progress:

12 weeks pregnant:

20 Week ultrasound:

6 months pregnant. Connor loves to kiss my belly, especially if he thinks he is being naughty, like I will forgive him if he's being sweet! But really, he is very excited about having a new sibling, and is really hoping for a baby sister. I can't wait to find out if it's going to be a boy or a girl!

Ok, gotta run for now, I will try to figure out more about this whole thing later and refine it a bit!
